Many visitors who come to Destin have one major thing to check off their vacation list: to get on a boat. Often times it can be intimidating to have to rent one yourself not knowing how to drive it or where the best places to go are. That’s why we love this sailing excursion with Captain Pam from Smile N Wave Sailing Adventures.

Smile N Wave Sailing Adventures offers a variety of cruises, including dolphin tours, Crab Island cruises, snorkeling trips and more. We LOVE this idea for families, friend groups, Bachelorette parties, etc. It’s a 2 hour minimum aboard her 31′ Catamaran, but stay out as long as you’d like to enjoy our beautiful Emerald Coast.

We asked Captain Pam to tell us more about herself and her business:

How long have you been sailing?
I’ve been sailing about 14 years captain for almost 10. I grew up in the water with my dad and my stepdad was a charter boat deckhand so I grew up on the harbor.

How did you get started in this business?
My son’s teacher offered me a job crewing on what was called the Emerald Dancer (now called the Cattywampus). I worked on there and after sailing it to St. Thomas, USVI I became captain. Captain Rex Walley and Captain Matt Ronk taught me how to sail.

What is your favorite part about what you do?
I love that I get to share my love of the water with everyone. I love building relationships much more than just a customer. I get to take people and show them all this area has to offer. I also love the kids and watching them experiencing things for the first time.

Kids and families are welcome aboard and her Catamaran is small pet friendly. This is one excursion you’ll want to book early as she fills up fast – it’s super easy to do on her website. Remember all Gibson Beach Rentals guests do receive a discount on their trips! Don’t forget to check out our Things To Do tab for all other things to do on the water.
