Sticking to budgets? Not our favorite thing either, especially on vacation! The good news is, you don’t have to compromise your trip in order to save a little money. We’re sharing our 4 tips to keep your vacation costs low, so you can enjoy the destination you chose, guilt free. Check them out and let us know your favorite vacation hacks in the comments below!

Cook Your Own Meals
While it is tempting to go out and eat to try all new foods and restaurants while you’re on vacation, those bills quickly add up. Hit up a local seafood market or grocery store and make plans to cook in your condo! Breakfast is an easy meal to cook, pack lunches and snacks for the beach, and save dinner for a restaurant. On the nights you skip eating out, hit up a seafood market like Destin Ice or Herbert’s Specialty Meats for fresh seafood you can cook at your leisure.

Split Meals
If dining out is something you and your family really enjoy, try splitting entrees or skipping the alcohol. Choose an appetizer as a meal or sharing an entree with a spouse or your kids is an easy way to lower that restaurant bill, while still getting the dining out experience.

Free Activities
Seek out the free activities in the city you’re visiting ahead of time! There are a variety of things to do in Destin that don’t cost a dime. Our favorites include visiting The Village of Baytowne Wharf in Sandestin to take advantage of their nightly events for kids. Check out Cinema SundaysHydroflight MondaysBoomin’ TuesdaysFree Music Wednesdays, and Magical Thursdays, right in the heart of the community. You can find free beach bonfires outside Royal Palm Grille, one of our preferred partners, every Monday and Friday evenings. Check out our Calendar to see more events happening around town! Another preferred partner, Fudpuckers, has Gator Beach, the world famous alligator park. It is free to visit the alligators and walk the museum, and only $3 to purchase food to feed the alligators. You may be surprised at how many free activities you find when you start looking!

Book Activities Through Discount Sites
There may be activities that you’d like to experience, but why pay full price? You can buy tickets to a variety of Destin activities on sites like Tripshock or Groupon. Browse discounted rates for things like parasailing, pontoon rentals, jet skis, dolphin tours, water parks, restaurants and more. Check them out and browse around to find what you’re looking for.

Hopefully our 4 tips to keep your vacation costs low helps in your planning! Be sure to leave a comment below and let us know your favorite hack to save money.
