Summer Activities in Destin 2020

4thofjuly1030x1030

Every summer, when our guests visit Destin and the rest of the Emerald Coast, “things to do in Destin” is always a top priority of their topics to look up before coming into town, and this summer is no different. Now that the vacation rental ban has been lifted, we are here to guide you for Things to do in Destin, post COVID-19 rental ban edition.

Concerts

Now that the vacation rental ban is behind us, everyone is heading to the beach. One of the things we love about the Emerald Coast is our Live Music Venues. And this summer is no different. We still recommend following the COVID-19 guidelines when going out into public, but is there anything wrong with social distancing and listening to live music at the same time? Below are some of the venues you should check out when coming into Destin this summer, because live events are their thing, and their calendars are full of events for you and the family!

Mattie Kelley Concert Series

One of our favorite things to do in Destin is enjoying a night under the stars at the most beautiful outdoor music venue on the Emerald Coast. Bring a friend, make sure to pack delicious snacks, drinks, and a blanket or chair. Food and beverages are available for purchase! Admission $15 per adult, FREE to MKAF members and kids under 12. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the concerts start at 7 p.m.

Graffiti & The Funky Blues Shack

The Funky Blues Shack prides itself on carefully choosing some of the best local and national bands around.

Baytowne Wharf Wednesday Night Concert Series

This summer sit back and relax as you take in the cool crisp air, and enjoy live entertainment. The concert series will feature both local and regional talent from a variety of genres. Concerts are free and begin at 7 p.m. at the Events Plaza Stage.

Baytowne Live on Friday Night

The Village of Baytowne Wharf presents Baytowne LIVE on Adventure Lane. It is located just across from Blast Arcade and Laser Maze.

Rock the Docks @ HarborWalk Village –

If you are ready to rock, head to the Destin the Harbor on Saturdays this summer: May 30th – August 15th from 7:00 – 9:30 p.m. Whether you are just visiting for the weekend, or are a local to the area, everyone knows the harbor is the place to be during the summer in Destin on a Saturday night! Parking on-site is $10.

Sunday Cinema

This may not be a concert, but it is one of our favorite (FREE) kid-friendly events at the Baytowne Wharf during the entire month of June: the Sunday cinema! So, grab your babies, lawn chairs, and your blankets and head over to the events plaza lawn where you can cozy up and watch a movie on the big screen with your little ones!

Fireworks

Yes, you heard it here first! The Emerald Coast will continue to have firework shows this summer, burn bans and weather permitting! So make sure you don’t miss out on one of our favorite things to do in Destin! This summer, you can be watching the fireworks shows with all your favorite people!

Emerald Grande Fireworks

The Emerald Grande is back to having Fireworks every Thursday starting at 9:00 p.m. Enjoy a view of the harbor and watch the night sky light up with fireworks. Our insider tip is that you can see the fireworks from anywhere with a harbor view if you park at the Emerald Grande, parking is $10.

Baytowne Wharf Fireworks

June 2nd – August 4th join your friends and family for a “booming Tuesday” at the Baytowne Wharf, where you can catch the most beautiful fireworks displays in Miramar Beach. They are free to attend, but we recommend getting a seat early, as space is limited, and traffic can be a pain! The show will be over the Lagoon and starts promptly at 9:15.

This summer, on the Emerald Coast, we are entering a “new normal.” Social distancing practices are still in effect, and it is best to look online or call ahead of time when going to a shop, dining at a restaurant, or attending an event. You’ll want to check what their best practices are and if a mask is required. We hope to see you soon this summer and wish everyone safe and happy travels!
